Are you passionate about using data to create a more equitable Aotearoa?
Nicholson Consulting is offering a paid internship from November 2025 to February 2026. We’re looking for motivated, value-led individuals who are keen to gain practical experience in data science, analytics & research while contributing to meaningful, impactful mahi.
While an interest in data is essential, we are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds and disciplines. We don’t expect you to know everything about data. What we are looking for are people who demonstrate a genuine commitment to equity, cultural integrity and creating better outcomes for our communities through data.
About us
At Nicholson Consulting, we understand that data is more than numbers. We believe data should uplift and enhance the mana of the people it represents.
We support organisations across the public, private and non-profit sectors to use data ethically and equitably. Our purpose “for the good of our communities” is at the heart of everything we do - from working on predictive models that support the revitalization of te reo Māori, to building dashboards that help us better understand child poverty in Aotearoa.

As an intern, you’ll:
Join a small, supportive, interdisciplinary team with a passion for data
Work on projects with real-world impact
Learn how data and evaluation can support better outcomes for Māori and other communities in Aotearoa
Be part of conversations around equity, cultural integrity, and how we act as allies in this space
Applicant requirements:
This internship is open to candidates from all educational backgrounds who are looking to start their data science career. Whether you’re a student, a recent graduate, or haven’t attended university at all - we are open to hearing from you.
You need to be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or resident, or have a valid work visa for full-time work in NZ
You need to be available from November to February (noting there will be a Christmas closure period, and we can offer some flexibility)
